Growing up, my Dad always reminisced about Mackinac Island; all 3.8 square miles of it, located in Lake Huron between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. He shared about the horse-drawn carriages, decadent fudge, and crystal clear water. His stories made it seem like a dream... a place where history reigned and time slowed down. I always wanted to visit but never really thought about when that would be.
